Basis Administrator
These users have the ability to support all Basis Administration. Additionally, Basis Administrators have access to ABAP/4 code (display), database management system, operating system, tables and all Basis Administration related transactions.

Basis roles are divided based on status of Junior and Senior Basis Administrators. Senior Basis users are allowed to make more system critical changes such as change system profiles, delete system locks, setting up RFCs, and delete updates
The following is a list of Basis responsibilities:
Approved Transports SAP Upgrades
Patches Client Copy
Client Refresh SAP System Monitoring
SAP Archiving Application Link Enabling
Database Administration UNIX Administration
Backup/Recovery Configuration of SAP System
Printer Administration System Integrity
ABAP/4 Developer
These users will have the ability to develop and maintain ABAP/4 programs, screens, menus and transactions. Additionally, they will have access to the Workbench Organizer and ABAP/4 Data Dictionary, which is required in order to execute development activities.
DataBase Administrator (DBA)
These users add tables, indexes and perform general database troubleshooting and monitoring. Some of this role is taken on by Developers, others by BASIS team members.
Network Administrator
These users monitor SAP for network problems. If they are unable to fix the problem through the network then they will notify Basis.
UNIX Administrator
These users monitor spooling and batch jobs at the UNIX level.
ALE Administrator
These users monitor the processing status of IDocs in ALE inbound and outbound processing between SAP instances and clients as well as the creation of the ALE connections.
Help Desk
These users are the first line in support for SAP System. They will create remedy tickets for issues that need to be handled by a SAP ECC Support team. They can also Unlock users who have been locked for too many invalid login attempts. but will not be able to unlock those locked by an Administrator.
Workflow Administrator
These users define in business processes who does what to what and in what order. They handle the items that error out of workflow. They determine why this happened and fix the error so it will process correctly. Usually the errors are related to escalation hierarchies.
Configuration
Configurators will have access to SAP’s Implementation Management Guide (IMG). Access to the IMG is required in order to configure SAP functionality. Configuration access will require a combination of access to the IMG and client table configuration
